SOUND FOR PICTURE

Sound design and post-production that carries the story.

Music is only one layer of the soundtrack. Sound design, transitions, atmospheres and finishing choices shape how each scene lands. We support productions that need audio to move with the picture, from first creative notes to delivery.

Common questions

Questions before starting

What is the difference between music composition and sound design?

Composition centres on musical material, while sound design shapes effects, textures and sonic storytelling. Many projects benefit from both working together.

Can you work from an offline edit?

Yes, a reference edit and delivery specifications are useful starting points. Final scope depends on the project.

Do you provide dialogue restoration or final theatrical mastering?

Ask us about the specific technical requirement. We will confirm which tasks we can cover and what requires a specialist partner, rather than promising services sight unseen.

The same project may need more than one music or rights workflow.

PRACTICAL GUIDANCE

How to prepare a sound-design brief

What assets help us start?

A picture cut with clear timecode, frame rate, rough mix or reference, turnover notes, delivery format and the intended platform establish the starting point. Identify locked sections and any editorial changes still expected.

What do we discuss during spotting?

Spotting identifies moments needing atmosphere, transitions, impacts, sonic branding, movement or detailed sound replacement. It helps separate creative decisions from technical delivery and revision notes.

How music and sound design work together

We look at dialogue intelligibility, impact, transitions and overall dramatic balance. Music, effects and sound design can have complementary roles; a dense trailer impact bed is not always right for a documentary scene.

What constitutes a finished delivery?

Specify approved formats, channel layout, stems or separated elements, sample rate, timecode and destination workflows in advance. Broadcast, cinema and online deliveries can require different technical specifications.
